What To Do with Cheap Sunglasses

...Or Darned Eyeglass Cases.  I know I will catch quite a few of even the seasoned frugalista's out there when coming up for uses for these things we are supposed to put our glasses in when we aren't using them. Does anyone use them by the way?? Maybe even 25 percent of the time? They are sturdy enough you feel guilty tossing them out and everyone knows the local thrift store isn't running short of a Pandora's box of variety on any given day of the year. They are weird shaped fitting pretty much only one thing, eyeglasses. Once you outgrow your pair every few years or so these things accumulate. I have only been wearing glasses for a few year and I already have a few laying around here. In fact, I think I can find them first before my glasses on more occasions than I can count.  I have all kinds of other cool tins I do things with and I will talk about those at another time.  I just want to discuss options to save one more thing from the landfills.  I have been leaving this one in the back of my mind for quite some time. I have been enveloped in more important tasks like canning, painting, and such so the creative things get pushed to the back while life is happening. That is the greatest benefit of all being a frugalista, at the least a Sicilian one, is getting to be creative along the way.

I found a very small screw in a bowl I was going to re-purpose to be a match catch. A match catch in my definition would be a bowl to safely throw matches in after lighting your perfectly great 1954 O'Keefe & Merit stove that has a meticulously finicky pilot light. So while holding the screw in my fingers wondering where the heck I was gonna put this to store because frugalistas do not, I repeat DO NOT throw out little screws that may someday save $3.99 for a eyeglass repair kit to avoid giving up one hour of a frugalista's life sitting in line an at eyeglass factory when I could be garage saling, repainting something or eating my fresh grown tomatoes. I need to have an eyeglass kit! Its the perfect idea and it could be made to take in a purse or left in a desk drawer where you'ld have easy access. I will build a little eyeglass kit of my own specifics. I do small electronics now and then and some of the tiny perfected tools get lost in the electrical box. So this kit will specialize in what my needs are when I work on small circuit boards. It might run a little different for you. In fact it might be a great thing for you to do with other small task jobs such as button repair. How many times have you found a button after the laundry and had to throw that in a dish? Not everyone has a sewing box anymore as many have traded their time for money to go out and buy the inferior made products being brought, even in the name of being ' green', half way across the world by boat(how idiotic and hypocritical at the same time). They just don't make em like they used to. Remember the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union of America? They made them right. They made clothes that lasted. When are we going to start doing that again in America? If the government would stop taking whats ours and let us rebuild we could make this country great again. I admit my idea is probably not an original idea but its time has come into fruition as if there ever was a time to 'gather the sails' so to speak, the time is now. You should be preparing and making your family as self sufficient as possible.  There may come a day when you either don't have the money to pay for something, you can't afford the services to repair it(like now) or the service is no longer in business, especially here in California. That's not to say that we do have some new, and mostly short lived or greener, jobs and small businesses happening here but the signs on the wall say we are in for an even wilder ride than that of the rest of the country digging out of two massive debt holes, the federal and the state. Now you say, "So tell me how you really feel."
